The Motorpoint Yamaha duo of Dan Linfoot and Ian Lowry left Cadwell Park with a mixed bag of emotions. For Dan it was a clear positive step in the right direction and for Ian a tough weekend at the most physical track of the year.

Dan started to gain confidence with the final qualifying session on Saturday and put his best race day of the season together but still suffered some bad luck.

“I know I did not quite get the whole weekend sorted but feel I have turned the corner and can run with the faster guy’s. I really only got comfortable in the last session on Saturday so race day was still a learning curve. I was really happy to finish the first race and learn a few things about tyre life and how the bike felt this helped me push much harder in the second race.

I got the gas on a bit strong leading up to the mountain with a couple of laps to go while in 6th position and the bike let go firing me over the bars. I’m sorry for the team and the boys they have all worked hard for me this weekend, I will pay them back at Mallory!”

Ian Lowry Motorpoint Yamaha 10th race 1 12th race 2

“Very tough weekend for me, these positions are not good enough, I really struggled to understand the bike here. The crash on Friday messed the whole weekend and I have to get back to basics and find some form. This is my first race of the year, no pre season testing, no racing and Cadwell is intense. I want to get on with this bike and get at the front, back to the grindstone for me with some more testing”

“Lesser folk may have called the Samaritans by now but we are thick skinned in Scunthorpe! I can’t believe another weekend of ‘if only’s’. Ian struggled all weekend at a track he is strong, Dan showed some of the Spanish testing form we saw but failed to finish the job off. We will dissect the weekend over the tea brief and come back and try again.

We did have a buzz in the garage when Taylor Mackenzie bagged his first win on board the Node 4 125. Niall and Jan Mackenzie started breeding a race team 17 years ago with Taylor and then Tarran! What a great weekend for the Mackenzie’s let’s hope it’s just the start”
