Promising day for Motorpoint Yamaha

Andrew Pitt brought along experience to the Motorpoint Yamaha team and some strong results to build on.

Mallory Park is with out doubt the toughest track to start your season at specially if you have never seen the place and been off the bike for 3 months.

Andrew showed his professionalism with the way he worked through settings to get the bike more consistent for race day and raced strong with the top six in both races.

“I am pretty pleased to get this weekend finished, this is the only track I have ridden this bike at and it is definitely not a Superbike circuit! The local guy’s know their way around this track and if you’re not totally flat out from the flag with a good start you really struggle to get through.

I am a bit frustrated with the end results but I think we all worked well for our first race together, the bike is getting better and the team and I are getting to understand each other which will set us up for the next race.

I am happy we have a race next weekend as I can get straight back to work and continue moving forward”

For Dan Linfoot the young ‘Rookie’ it was another tough learning curve for the 21 year old.

A bad start in the first race saw Dan complete the first lap in 20 position, trying to get through Dan was involved in another riders accident and was sidelined on lap two.

“Pretty disappointed really, testing went well and the hard work we had all done to get onto the second row was thrown away with a bad start, if you do not get away around here it is really tough to get through.

The second race was better but I struggled with grip with the heat and tyre wear, Knockhill next week so no time to dwell on it, need to get back on and turn the result around.”

Rob Mac

“It was always going to be a tough one for Andrew, to land at Mallory for your first race with the pace of the BSB championship was a big challenge.

We all thought he did a great job, a little better starts would have seen him run top six and for his first time here at probably the worst track for our bike bodes well for the rest of the season.

We faired much better than some of our competitors with the Mallory jinx catching out the Worx Suzuki and the Swan Honda teams, with this job you need to have some luck, Mallory stretches that theory more than normal.

Dan did not help himself with a bad start after all the good work he did in qualifying, like he says he can get back on his bike in 5 days and turn it all around!”

Taylor Mackenzie on board the Node 4 125 machine continued with his impressive run of form with a brilliant 7th from a last row start position.

Taylor has been globe trotting for last few weekends with the ‘Red Bull’ rookie series, wild card rides at Moto GP and the odd Spanish national race.

Taylor flew back from the Saturday race day at Assen and was allowed to start from the back of the grid at Mallory.

“I have had a really great time over the last month, since winning my first race on the Node 4 bike at Cadwell my feet have touched the ground! Racing at GP tracks in Europe have been awesome and is definitely helping me with my pace here at home.

Knockhill my next race and I feel pretty confident of getting a solid result”
