Snetterton Race Day

Snetterton Race Day
19/07/2010 08:28am
The Motorpoint Yamaha team of Dan Linfoot and Andrew Pitt came away from Snetterton the 7th round of the British Superbike Championship with a mixed bag of emotions.

Both riders had to fight hard from poor starts in both races with Dan pushing a little too hard in race one and slipping off. Andrew made good progress with his new bike and circuit and had a very good race to 8th position and sets himself up for a strong result going into Brands Hatch a circuit he will be familiar with.

“A much more satisfying weekend for me, we worked with the bike and got it a lot better for race two, but coming from the third row was always going to be tough, if you don’t get away with the front guy’s it is so hard to get through. We did not get the best lap in qualifying so I was pleased to get through to 8th. It is not where we expect to be and I will be keen to get to Brands Hatch and get stuck into a circuit I know pretty well.”

“I felt I had to push really hard to hang on to the guy’s in front, I struggled to get out of the slow corners and was trying to make up for lost ground and paid the penalty in the first race. I have to get my starts sorted, both races were bad starts and I have to try and get through from the back, we have the pace of the front riders but a bad start puts me under so much pressure. I keep getting caught out.

Brands is one of my favourites so we will get our heads together and come back fighting at the next round”

“Andrew gave us some light, his ride in the second race from 15th on lap one shows he has the pace and he can race hard. Both guy’s made the day tough by not getting the best of starts, Snetterton is difficult to pass, to try and catch the front pack coming from that far back was never going to happen but he dug in and gave us some positives for Brands Hatch.

Dan puts himself under so much pressure by not getting away at the start, 21st on lap one is never going to turn into a good day! He has to make the most of his great pace through qualifying, he can do the lap times as long as he can get away.

Brands is the race we have been waiting for with Andrew, it will be his first weekend where he actually knows which way the track goes and he has had great success at World level there so with a little luck we can get a strong result for Motorpoint and Yamaha”
